چکیده
Abstract Bacterial endophthalmitis is a rare intraocular infection, and prompt administration of intravitreal antibiotics crucial for preventing severe vision loss. The retrospective study to investigate the in vitro susceptibility vancomycin, amikacin, ceftazidime bacterial isolates specimens at tertiary referral center from January 1996 April 2019 Taiwan. Overall, 450 (49.9%) were Gram positive, 447 (49.6%) negative, 4 (0.4%) variable. In Gram-positive isolates, coagulase-negative staphylococci most commonly cultured bacteria (158, 35.1%), followed by Streptococci (100, 22.2%), Enterococci (75, 16.7%), Staphylococcus aureus (70, 15.6%). Gram-negative they Klebsiella pneumoniae (166, 37.1%) Pseudomonas aeruginosa (131, 29.3%). All organisms susceptible with exception one Enterococcus faecium isolate (1/450, 0.2%). Of 96.9% 93.7% respectively. Nine (9/447, 2.0%) multidrug-resistant bacteria, comprising K. (4/164, 2.4%), Acinetobacter baumannii (2/3, 67%), Stenotrophomonas maltophilia (3/18, 17%). conclusion, testing revealed that vancomycin remains suitable antibiotic treatment endophthalmitis. Ceftazidime amikacin provide approximately same degree coverage. Multidrug-resistant was uncommon.

We appreciate the comments by Hui et al. (3) concerning our article (1). We agree about the potential benefits of repeated intravitreal injections of antibiotics. Intravitreal antibiotics have become part of the standard treatment for endophthalmitis. The current antibiotic treatment for acute-onset bacterial endophthalmitis includes vancomycin for gram-positive coverage and either ceftazidime ...

BACKGROUND The objective of this study was to evaluate the microbiologic spectrum and antimicrobial susceptibility of isolates in post-traumatic endophthalmitis and compare with our earlier published report. BACKGROUND The purpose of this study is to evaluate the prevalence, antimicrobial susceptibilities, and visual acuity outcome of acute-onset postoperative Gram-negative bacterial endophthalmitis cases resistant to both ceftazidime and amikacin seen between 2005 and 2010 at L. V. Prasad Eye Institute, a tertiary care ophthalmic Centre in South India. Medical records of all patients with Gram-neg...

V ancomycin-sensitive enterococcal acute endophthalmitis has been reported following cataract extraction, penetrating keratoplasty, trabeculectomy, and pupilloplasty. However, vancomycinresistant enterococcal (VRE) endophthalmitis has been described in only 3 patients to date: an immunocompromised, hospitalized patient with underlying bacteremia, an immunocompetent patient following keratoplast...
متن کاملRapid flow cytometric bacterial detection and determination of susceptibility to amikacin in body fluids and exudates.
A flow cytometry-based method for rapid and quantitative detection of bacteria in various clinical specimens and for rapid determination of antibiotic effect is described. Achieving such a measurement with high sensitivity required discrimination between bacteria and other particles which were often present in clinical samples in high concentrations. This discrimination was facilitated by detec...
